Patna: Senior citizens aged 75 years and above will now be able to register property, including land and flats, without visiting registration offices as CM Samrat Choudhary on Saturday launched a home-based digital registration facility.Samrat inaugurated four services under the Home Registry Digital System at the district registration office in Hajipur. These include home registration, online verification of land records, paperless registration and site inspection through GIS technology. He also flagged off Mobile Registration Unit (MRU) vehicles that will visit applicants’ homes to complete the process. The facility, launched under the ‘Sabka Samman–Jeevan Aasan’ initiative of the Saat Nischay Part-III programme, aims to spare elderly citizens the hassle of travelling to crowded registry offices and make property transactions simpler and more transparent.During the event, officials demonstrated the registration of 83-year-old Awadhesh Kumar through video conferencing. Kumar became the first beneficiary of the service.Speaking at the launch, Samrat said the scheme had initially been planned for those aged 80 years and above, but the eligibility age had now been reduced to 75 years. “The objective of the government is to increase the ease of living of common citizens and make government services simpler, more transparent and time-bound,” he said.According to the CM, the new system will make land registration completely online and paperless, reducing paperwork and repeated visits to government offices. He said it would also strengthen transparency and help curb corruption.Applicants will receive documents through WhatsApp and email. The status of a property will be verified online and through GIS technology before any transaction.Eligible senior citizens can book appointments through the department’s e-registration portal. Once the slot is confirmed, an MRU equipped with biometric devices, a webcam and Aadhaar authentication facilities will visit the applicant’s residence to complete the registration process.
