Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has intensified its probe into alleged examination malpractices and question paper leak cases by questioning Sanjeev Kumar, alias Sanjeev Mukhiya, a key accused in the NEET-UG paper leak case.After obtaining permission from a court, the EOU took Mukhiya on police remand from Beur Central Jail on Tuesday and conducted detailed interrogation regarding his alleged links to examination fraud and paper leak cases.According to an EOU statement issued on Wednesday, Mukhiya was questioned in connection with a case registered at Patrakar Nagar police station on May 7, 2017, involving charges of cheating, fraud, forgery and violations under the Information Technology Act.The agency said Mukhiya and others were allegedly preparing to facilitate cheating in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examination. Given the seriousness of the allegations, the case was taken over by the EOU for further investigation on June 19, 2025.Officials said 11 accused had already been arrested and sent to jail during the course of the investigation.Mukhiya was earlier arrested by the EOU in the 2024 NEET-UG paper leak case and is currently lodged in jail. He has now been remanded in the SSC examination fraud case as part of the ongoing investigation.The EOU said efforts were underway to ascertain Mukhiya’s criminal antecedents, identify his associates and examine his alleged role in examination-related fraud and paper leak networks.
