21 CBI, 17 Delhi Police officers awarded police medals

New Delhi: On the eve of Independence Day, 21 CBI and 17 Delhi Police officers were awarded police medals for distinguished and meritorious service.President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) is awarded for a special distinguished record in service and Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) is awarded for valuable service characterised by resource and devotion to duty.Six CBI personnel were awarded PSM — Shobha Dutta, assistant inspector general of police; Manoj Banerjee and Ginni Rana, additional superintendents of police; Sanjay Kumar Samal, deputy superintendent of police; and Ramesh Chand and Madan Lal Dhiman, assistant sub-inspectors.In Delhi Police, two officers, additional CP (traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta and sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar, were awarded PSM. Gupta, who has held several key field and specialised assignments, now oversees traffic arrangements for major public events. He was awarded MSM in 2018.Among the 15 Delhi Police officers awarded MSM were joint CP (crime) Surender Kumar and joint CP (Economic Offences Wing) Nupur Prasad. Kumar has contributed to several policing and technology initiatives, including the e-beat book, extradition of gangsters, cyber-awareness campaigns and implementation of new criminal laws. He has also served as foreigners regional registration officer, Delhi.Prasad has held several key postings in Delhi Police and CBI, working on major investigations, including AgustaWestland and Sushant Singh Rajput death cases. She has also handled security arrangements and led initiatives on women’s safety, cyber awareness and drug de-addiction.In CBI, 15 personnel were awarded MSM — deputy legal adviser Brijesh Singh, senior system analyst Girish Joshi, deputy superintendents of police Manoj Kumar, Om Prakash Chandra, Zahir Akhtar Ansari and Ashish Anand, inspector Sarita Yadav, sub-inspector Roshan Kumar, assistant sub-inspector Dilbar Singh Bisht, head constables Balkar Singh, Govind Singh Bisht and Kamlesh Kumar Gurjar, and constables Pal Pandian R, Ajay Kumar Singh and Kalyanadurgam Samiullah.Delhi Police inspector (steno) Tara Dutt was also awarded MSM. He has played a key role during major official events and inspections, ensuring seamless documentation and coordination, particularly during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections and MCD byelections.
