UN:BLOC, a healthcare venture founded by Healthians founder Deepak Sahni, on Tuesday launched its website and opened applications for its first cohort of 300 patients, seeking to offer an alternative approach to managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, PCOS and obesity.
Patients enrolling through the platform will pay a one-time fee of ₹2,499 for BlocMarker, an assessment that evaluates medical and family history, existing conditions and lifestyle patterns. The assessment can also incorporate laboratory reports and wearable-device data. The information is reviewed by UnblocPanel, a multidisciplinary team of doctors, with patients receiving a preliminary assessment immediately and a fully reviewed result within 48–72 hours.
The ₹2,499 assessment fee will be adjusted against the cost of UnblocProtocol, the company’s treatment programme, if patients choose to proceed.
Sahni said the idea emerged from his personal experience with Type 2 diabetes. Diagnosed a decade ago, he said he was eventually prescribed 12 medications before beginning to investigate the underlying factors contributing to his condition. He claims that, under medical supervision, he reduced his medication load by 75 per cent over 90 days after following a protocol based on the framework.
According to the company, its clinical team has subsequently worked on several hundred case studies, with over 30 patients treated under the Block Medicine framework before the public launch.
The framework has identified 51 biological “blocks” that its clinicians use to investigate the underlying drivers of symptoms.
“What drew me to this framework is that it does not ask us to choose between systems of medicine. It asks us to look at a patient’s complete history, biology, and lifestyle together,” said Dr Ashish Kalla, founding clinical partner and chief clinical officer.
Cricketer Yuvraj Singh is among the investors in UN:BLOC and has joined its founding team. It marks his second investment alongside Sahni, following his backing of diagnostics company Healthians more than a decade ago.
Sahni said the company aims to make root-cause-oriented healthcare accessible at scale, arguing that the next phase of healthcare would focus increasingly on identifying and addressing underlying causes rather than managing symptoms indefinitely.
