Bettiah: A 30-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter were killed after being run over by a train near Sofwa village on the Narkatiaganj-Muzaffarpur railway section in West Champaran late Monday night.The deceased were identified as Janki Devi, wife of Sakesh Chaudhary, and her daughter Pinjal Kumari, residents of Sofwa village under Shikarpur police station.Family said Janki had gone to a grocery shop with her daughter. While returning home, they were hit by the 63341 Muzaffarpur-Narkatiaganj MEMU train.Narkatiaganj RPF post commander Rituraj Kashyap and Shikarpur police reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem.Shikarpur SHO Manoj Kumar Singh said, “Sofwa village is divided into two parts by the railway track. People generally cross the tracks to move from one side to the other. The woman was returning home with her daughter after purchasing grocery items when they were hit by the train.”
