Weather tomorrow: IMD warns of heavy to very heavy rain several states; thunderstorms likely in many areas
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Uttarakhand.

NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in seven states on Monday, with Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Uttarakhand likely to see the heaviest rain.Several other parts of the country may also see heavy rain, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely in parts of the east, central India, the Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir.

IMD rain alert for Monday

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha and Uttarakhand.Heavy rain is also expected in parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, east Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, West Bengal and Sikkim.

Thunderstorms and lightning likely

Several areas may see thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds. These conditions are likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha, while Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jharkhand, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and west Madhya Pradesh may also see thunderstorms with gusty winds.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, east Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Uttarakhand.

North India weather

Uttarakhand is likely to see heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places on Monday. Heavy rain is also forecast in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and east Uttar Pradesh.Rainfall is expected to become more widespread over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad from Sunday to Tuesday, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to remain wet in the coming days.

Central India forecast

Chhattisgarh is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places on Monday, while east Madhya Pradesh may see heavy rain.West Madhya Pradesh may also see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

East India under rain alert

Jharkhand and Odisha are among the areas facing a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning on Monday. Bihar and West Bengal are also likely to see heavy rain in parts.Heavy rain in Odisha is expected to continue in upcoming days.

Northeast to see heavy rain

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on Monday. Heavy rain is also forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.The region is expected to remain wet through the next few days, with thunderstorms and lightning also likely.

West and south India

Konkan and Goa are likely to continue receiving widespread rainfall through Friday. Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch may see scattered rain.In south India, Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive widespread rainfall on Monday, while Coastal Karnataka is expected to remain wet.Parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana and Lakshadweep may also see rain.

IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days

Rainfall is expected to remain active across several parts of the country through the first week of September.Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to continue in parts of central, eastern, northeastern and northern India, while the west coast is also expected to see widespread rainfall.
