Patna: In a city rich in cultural heritage, a creative movement is taking shape every Sunday, bringing Patna’s artists and art lovers together to paint, experiment and connect. Organised by Planet Patna, the open painting sessions welcome people above 12, giving both beginners and experienced artists a space to express themselves and become part of a growing artistic community.‘Planet Patna Creates’ is an initiative of Planet Patna aimed at building a community driven by art, creativity and public participation. It seeks to nurture creative expression through art gatherings, workshops and collaborative learning experiences, making artistic practice accessible to wider communities.Azfar Ahmad, director of Planet Patna, said the initiative organises Sunday creative sessions from 11.30am to 1.30pm. The informal sessions allow anyone interested in art to walk in, paint, experiment and interact with fellow participants, Ahmad said.At times, the sessions are held on the premises of Bal Manohar Jalan Museum, allowing participants to explore its collection of Company School paintings and create artworks inspired by colonial-era paintings, objects and themes, Ahmad said.The regular Sunday sessions are free and open to anyone interested in art, while specialised workshops may occasionally be organised as paid programmes.Shreya, a participant, said, “We bring our own art supplies and can choose the theme of our paintings. Both amateur and professional painters participate in these sessions. I love drawing and meeting different people here, and I would like to attend the sessions more often.”Planet Patna has organised around 30 such sessions so far, seeking to build a vibrant community of artists and culturally engaged citizens. The initiative also creates opportunities for collaborations, exhibitions and workshops, encouraging participants to explore, reinterpret and contribute to Patna’s rich cultural heritage.
