Patna: A prisoner escaped from police custody in Laheri police station area of Nalanda district on Sunday but was recaptured after around 10 minutes. While being taken to Dipnagar jail, the accused slipped his handcuff, jumped from an e-rickshaw and fled into narrow lanes.Police jawans accompanying him chased him and, with the help of locals, caught him near Nalanda More.Police said Akhilesh Kumar was caught near Nalanda More with a consignment of liquor on Saturday. After a medical check-up at Sadar Hospital and court appearance, he was being taken to Dipnagar jail in judicial custody when he escaped.Nalanda SHO Pramod Kumar said the police team acted swiftly and caught Akhilesh with the help of locals. After completing the necessary paperwork, he was sent to Dipnagar jail in judicial custody.
