Pune: Kalewadi police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old man from Thergaon on the charge of attempting to kill his wife by slitting her throat. The incident happened at their house in Thergaon on Tuesday night. The woman (25) sustained severe injuries in the attack and is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. Her condition is critical, police said.An officer from the Kalewadi police said the accused had been harassing his wife as she was unable to conceive a child. “On Tuesday morning, he again had a heated argument with his wife over the same issue. He later attacked her with a kitchen knife and slit her throat,” the officer said. The officer said the woman was rushed to a hospital following the attack. “We registered a case against the accused on Wednesday and arrested him,” he said.
