NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend at a hotel in Delhi’s Lahori Gate area, later man allegedly consumed poison in an apparent suicide attempt, police said on Thursday.The couple had checked into Hotel Prince on Wednesday evening. The man is a native of Rajasthan, while the woman was from Bihar, police said.Police said the man allegedly attacked the woman with a knife during the night, causing multiple injuries. He then consumed a poisonous substance and was taken to hospital for treatment.Hotel staff discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood inside the room on Thursday morning. She was taken to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The accused is currently undergoing treatment, police said.The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination and further investigation is underway.According to a police statement, Lahori Gate Police Station received information on Thursday morning about a man and a woman found unconscious at Hotel Prince.“A police team immediately reached the spot, where a woman was found lying unconscious with multiple stab injuries. A man was also found unconscious at the same location,” police said.Both were taken to a nearby hospital. The woman was declared brought dead, while the man remains under treatment, the officer said.Police are investigating the incident to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the woman’s death and the man’s alleged suicide attempt.
