Weather tomorrow: IMD forecasts heavy rain, thunderstorms across states; red alert in Jharkhand, orange alert in MP
The IMD forecasts rain and thunderstorms across many parts of India

NEW DELHI: The IMD has forecast rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the states on Thursday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and other states. Several regions are expected to remain under weather alerts over the next few days.

Delhi-NCR

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain in many parts of Delhi until September 4, with heavy rain likely at isolated places.

Uttarakhand

Rainfall is likely to continue at several places in Uttarakhand until September 7. On Thursday, heavy rain is expected at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense to very intense spells of rain are also likely across the state.On September 4, heavy rain is expected at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Dehradun, Haridwar and Bageshwar. Similar thunderstorm and lightning activity is likely across the state.On September 5, heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri, with thunderstorms and lightning possible across all districts.

Jharkhand

Schools in Garhwa and Latehar districts will remain closed on Thursday amid a flash-flood warning.The IMD has forecast heavy rain across Jharkhand until September 5, with a red alert for very heavy rainfall in Garhwa, Palamu, Simdega and West Singhbhum.Several other districts, including Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Saraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum, are also expected to receive heavy rain.

Odisha

The IMD has forecast continued rainfall across Odisha until September 6. On Thursday, rain is expected across northern, southern and coastal parts of the state, with a yellow warning issued for 13 districts.

Himachal Pradesh

A yellow alert for heavy rain at isolated places in Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur has been issued until September 3.

West Bengal

The IMD has forecast heavy rain in parts of Gangetic West Bengal and several districts in the sub-Himalayan region until September 4.

Madhya Pradesh

The weather system is likely to remain active over Madhya Pradesh until September 4.The IMD has issued an orange alert for very heavy rain in Umaria and Balaghat. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Satna, Rewa, Panna, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Katni, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Jabalpur, Mandla, Seoni and Chhindwara.

IMD’s latest forecast

The latest forecast indicates continued rainfall and thunderstorms across several states over the next few days. Uttarakhand is likely to see rain until September 7, while Jharkhand and Odisha are expected to remain wet until September 5 and 6 respectively.People in affected areas are advised to follow local weather warnings and take necessary precautions, particularly in districts under orange and red alerts.
