Patna: RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Friday questioned the Bihar govt’s decision to sign a proposed Rs 22,500 crore MoU with a company for investment in the nuclear sector, alleging the firm was incorporated only a few months ago and had a paid-up capital of just around Rs 11 lakh. The allegations came as the state industries department publicised MoUs involving investments of around Rs 51,500 crore with various industrial groups. Tejashwi also questioned the announcement of fresh proposals without a progress report on MoUs worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore signed in 2024, 2025 and earlier.Tejashwi alleged the company associated with the nuclear-sector proposal was established in Feb 2026 and had total capital of around Rs 11 lakh. He questioned how a company with such a small capital base could undertake an investment running into thousands of crores. He sought details of the proposed project and asked the govt to clarify whether the company had the financial and technical capacity to execute it. He also alleged that companies could receive subsidised or nominally priced land and govt incentives in the name of investment, warning such practices would not be acceptable.“We welcome genuine industrial investment in Bihar and would support companies willing to invest their own capital and create jobs,” Tejashwi said, cautioning the govt against promoting what he termed “paper companies” and demanding greater transparency in the MoU process.Despite repeated attempts by TOI, no official from the industries department agreed to comment on the allegations.Tejashwi also questioned why major industrial groups had not yet made substantial investments in Bihar despite the NDA being in power in the state for more than two decades.
