Ponda: A 36-year-old woman died after she came under the wheels of a container truck following a collision between two scooters at Kundaim Industrial Estate on Sunday morning.Divya Mandrekar, a resident of Velguem-Surla, Bicholim, was riding pillion on a scooter driven by Rushab Borkar, 29, of Taribhat, Borim, when the accident occurred.Police said the two were travelling towards the industrial estate when they reached near a food and beverage plant. Ram Paul Sharma, 60, of Bilaspur, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly driving a container truck rashly and negligently towards the extreme right side of the median.At the same time, another scooter ridden by Tilakram Yadav, 45, currently residing at Kundaim, allegedly hit Borkar’s scooter while attempting to overtake the container truck.The impact caused Borkar and Mandrekar to fall onto the road, following which Mandrekar came under the truck’s wheels. She was rushed to Madkai Primary Health Centre in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.Mardol Police registered an FIR against Sharma and Yadav under Sections 281, 106(1) and 125(b), read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
