Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Friday conducted simultaneous raids at three locations linked to executive engineer Sanjay Kumar of the road construction department, who is posted in Khagaria. Searches were carried out in Patna, Nalanda and Khagaria.The VIB said 13 plots in Kumar and his wife’s names, cash and jewellery were found. The seizures included Rs 1.29 lakh in cash, gold jewellery worth Rs 18 lakh and silver jewellery valued at Rs 68,574. Investigators also traced 13 immovable properties worth Rs 1.88 crore and a three-storey residential building in Biharsharif.The action came a day after a case was registered against Kumar on Aug 13 under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018). He has been accused of possessing assets worth Rs 1.01 crore, around 61% above his known sources of income.VIB DG Jitendra Singh Gangwar said, “The investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be taken based on the findings and valuation reports.”
