French automotive executive Peyman Kargar is set to be the new CEO of India’s third-largest two-wheeler maker, TVS Motor Company in just about 17 months of joining the company as the President of its International division.
TVS Motor Company has announced the appointment of Kargar as Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 27, 2027. He will succeed current CEO K N Radhakrishnan, who will continue in his role until Jan 2027 and then become a Non-Executive Director up to the date of the ensuing AGM in July 2027. Radhakrishnan took charge as CEO and president back in 2008.
With over three decades of experience across global car companies spanning Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, Kargar will help TVS in its key focus areas of premiumisation, global expansion, and product innovation.
His reputation as a turnaround specialist, along with a global footprint cutting across product development, R&D, manufacturing, and sales functions, makes Kargar a valuable addition to TVS Motor in its next phase of growth.
With an engineering degree from INSA Lyon in France and an MBA from London Business School, Kargar was most recently the Global Chairman & President of INFINITI, the luxury brand of Nissan Company. His previous roles include that of VP Sales & Marketing at Renault Group, managing multiple geographies, and also Managing Director of Renault Middle East and Country Manager Director in Iran.
The French executive’s rapid elevation to TVS’ top role also stems from the automaker’s strong international business performance in recent years. Overseas markets now make up almost one-third of the sales and are growing at over 30 per cent.
Kranti Bathini, Director–Equity Strategy, WealthMills Securities, says that Peyman Kargar’s immediate challenge is to sustain double-digit growth off a base of nearly six million vehicles while protecting margins through an investment-heavy electric transition.
“The benchmark is particularly high because of what K.N. Radhakrishnan leaves behind. During his long tenure, TVS strengthened domestic market share, accelerated exports and premiumisation, and built credible electric and global platforms.”
Sudarshan Venu, Chairman, TVS Motor Company, said that the appointment marks “an important step” for TVS Motor. “Peyman is an accomplished global leader with profound industry experience, strategic vision and a strong understanding of customers and markets. As President, International Business, he has already made a meaningful contribution to our business, and I am confident he is the right person to lead TVS Motor Company and further strengthen our position among the world’s leading mobility companies.”
Interestingly, Peyman’s brother Keyvan Kargar is also an automotive and industrial electronics veteran with stints in Forvia Group in Japan and Renault, among others. Peyman has dedicated his career to the automotive industry, leading businesses, transforming organizations and bringing people together around a shared ambition, Keyvan said in a post on LinkedIn on Friday.
Peyman will be based in TVS’ office in Bengaluru after January 2027.
