SSB trainee constable dies during tear gas handling exercise

Patna: A 25-year-old constable, undergoing training at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Recruit Training Centre (RTC) in Supaul, died after allegedly collapsing during a tear gas handling session on Saturday night.The deceased was identified as AbhishekYadav, son of Pramod Yadav, a resident of Bhamrauli Ahir village under Malpura police station area of Agra district in in Uttar Pradesh.According to police, a training exercise on the use and handling of tear gas was underway at the RTC when Abhishek suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. Training centre personnel immediately rushed him to Nirmali Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Abhishek was serving as a constable and was undergoing training at the SSB centre in Supaul at the time of the incident.Kishanpur SHO Gyan Ranjan Kumar confirmed the death and said the exact cause was yet to be established. “Police are awaiting the post-mortem report. The circumstances leading to the constable’s death are being investigated,” the SHO said.The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further action will be taken based on the findings, police added.
