Guv asks varsities to clear pending salary, pension dues by July 20

Patna: Taking cognisance of complaints from serving and retired teachers and non-teaching staff of universities, governor-cum-chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain on Saturday directed vice-chancellors and the higher education department to expedite the payment of pending salary arrears, pension dues and other retirement benefits by July 20.Expressing concern over delays in settling retirement benefits, the governor instructed universities to clear all dues of employees who retired up to June 30, 2026, in mission mode. He also asked them to submit a compliance report in the prescribed format to the chancellor’s secretariat by July 24.In its communication signed by additional chief secretary to the governor, Dipak Kumar Singh, the VCs have been further directed to organise special camps in universities on July 27 and 28, if some teachers or non-teaching staff remain unpaid. The registrar, financial adviser and finance officer along with other staff of the university concerned would be present at the special camp to be held for clearing the dues.The secretary of higher education department has been requested to depute one official of the department in each university at the camp related to the disbursement of all types of arrears of pay and pension. The department has been further asked to complete all the pending cases of pay verification of university staff latest by July 27, the notification added.
