Patna: The Bihar govt has selected Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) Advisory Foundation, affiliated with CEPT University in Ahmedabad, as the technical support unit for the planning and implementation of its proposed greenfield satellite townships.Urban development and housing minister Nitish Mishra said the decision aims to ensure systematic planning and efficient execution of the ambitious township projects. The technical support unit will provide strategic guidance, technical expertise and implementation support to help deliver high-quality urban infrastructure and planned development.The minister said the state govt, under the leadership of chief minister Samrat Choudhary, is committed to creating well-planned urban hubs equipped with modern infrastructure, quality housing, improved civic amenities and opportunities for economic growth. He added that partnering with a nationally-recognised institution such as CEPT University would strengthen the state’s capacity to achieve these objectives.According to Mishra, CEPT has extensive expertise in urban planning, infrastructure development and sustainable urbanisation. Its role will include preparing development strategies, providing technical consultancy, monitoring project implementation and ensuring adherence to quality standards throughout the execution of the proposed satellite townships.The technical support unit will also assist in policy formulation, strengthen regulatory and institutional mechanisms, oversee project implementation and facilitate coordination among various government departments. These measures are expected to accelerate the timely and effective completion of the projects.Mishra said the development of greenfield satellite townships would create organised urban settlements, generate employment opportunities and promote growth in industry, trade, housing and the service sector. The initiative is also expected to establish new economic growth centres across Bihar, contributing to balanced regional development and long-term structural transformation of the state’s economy, he added.Expressing confidence in the initiative, the minister said the partnership with CEPT would play a key role in advancing Bihar’s vision of sustainable, inclusive and future-ready urban development.
