Panaji: Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari said he has proposed a short flyover at Bhoma to ease local fears that NH 66 expansion could damage nearby houses and temples. He added that the temple lake will also be beautified as part of the highway project. Bhoma residents have been demanding a bypass, citing concerns that a key village temple could be affected by four-laning. Gadkari said the proposal emerged after a delegation of villagers met him. Work on the Ponda-to-Bhoma stretch is scheduled to begin in Oct, while expansion from Old Goa to Bhoma is expected to start within two months. Gadkari said Rs 4,060 crore worth of projects in Mormugao taluka, including MES, will be completed by Oct 2027. The Navelim-to-Cuncolim four-laning is expected by 2028, and work from Cuncolim to Bendordem will start soon. He said these projects will complete the Mumbai–Goa NH 66 expansion.
