Patna: Unidentified assailants shot at a fruit vendor, Rajkumar Prajapati, in Bahadurpur police station area here on Tuesday, police said. The incident was reported around 11am, following which police rushed to the spot and shifted Rajkumar to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).Rajkumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, works as a fruit vendor in the area. According to police, the bullet hit near his head.City SP (East) Shailja visited the crime spot and supervised the investigation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to crack the case and arrest the accused, she added.“The investigation is at a preliminary stage and the identity of the attackers has not been established yet. Eyewitnesses questioned so far have been unable to identify the assailants or determine the direction from which the bullets were fired. Officers are recording statements of other witnesses and examining all possible angles, including the motive behind the attack, the number of accused involved, and the number of rounds fired,” the SP said.During the inspection of the crime spot, police recovered two empty bullet shells. A forensic science team has been called to collect all evidence from the place.
