Patna: Ahead of the Census 2027, the state govt has directed officials concerned to complete a statewide survey of basic amenities and infrastructure in every village and town by Aug 30 for preparation of the District Census Handbook (DCHB).The directions were issued at a review meeting held via videoconferencing on Wednesday to ensure timely implementation of the exercise. The meeting was jointly chaired by director of Census Operations and principal Census officer (Bihar), Ranjita, and additional secretary of the revenue and land reforms department, Mahendra Pal. District census officers and other officials from across the state participated.Officials were asked to gather updated information on education, health, drinking water, sanitation, roads, banking, communication, agriculture, urban amenities and other key indicators for every village and town.Ranjita said fieldwork for DCHB-2027 would continue till Aug 30. She said training of all field functionaries had been completed and stressed the need to finish the work within the stipulated timeframe. Detailed instructions were issued regarding preparation of the village directory and town directory, data compilation, use of mobile applications and web portals, timelines and responsibilities at different levels.The meeting also emphasised regular monitoring, data verification and coordination among departments. Officials were directed to ensure 100% compilation of information in the prescribed format and upload it to the portal on time.Special emphasis was placed on data security and confidentiality. Officials were instructed to keep login credentials confidential, share data only through authorised channels and immediately report any technical or security-related issues through the prescribed mechanism.The meeting was attended by deputy director of the Census Directorate Sanjeev Kumar Saw, municipal commissioners, block development officers and executive officers from all districts.
