NEW DELHI: Delhi Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions and diversions across several parts of the city on Wednesday in view of the motorcade rehearsal for the BRICS Summit 2026. The restrictions will remain in place from 11am to 3pm on September 1, with traffic being regulated at 22 diversion points covering more than 35 roads.The rehearsal is being conducted ahead of the BRICS Summit scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, from September 11 to 13. The affected corridors include major roads in central and south Delhi, including Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Tees January Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Subramania Bharti Marg, Mathura Road, Moti Lal Nehru Marg, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, Africa Avenue Road, Satya Marg, Shanti Path, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Barakhamba Road, Tolstoy Marg, Ranjeet Singh Flyover, Niti Marg and Panchsheel Marg.Traffic will be diverted at key junctions depending on the movement of the motorcade. At Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, traffic towards Mathura Road and Tilak Marg will not be allowed, while motorists will be diverted through BSZ Marg, IP Marg and Delhi Gate depending on their destination. Restrictions will also be imposed at Ram Charan Aggarwal Chowk and Mir Dard Chowk.In and around Connaught Place, traffic towards C-Hexagon from Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Janpath will be restricted. Motorists heading towards central, north, west and east Delhi will be diverted through routes including Kali Bari, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road, Panchkuian Road, Minto Road and Barakhamba Road.Further south, diversions will be implemented at Patel Chowk, RML Hospital, Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh and Brij Hoshiyar Singh Marg. Traffic from Dhaula Kuan towards Sardar Patel Marg will be restricted, with motorists directed towards Ring Road and other alternative routes. Vehicles travelling towards IGI Airport and Gurgaon will be diverted towards NH-48/Gurgaon Road.Several restrictions will also be imposed along Lodhi Road and Mathura Road, including at Madarsa T-Point, Lodhi Road/Amrita Shergil Marg, Max Mueller Marg, Maharishi Raman Marg, Arch Bishop Macarius Marg, Neela Gumbad and under the Oberoi Flyover.At Mandi House, traffic towards Feroz Shah Road, Bhagwan Das Road and Copernicus Marg will be restricted. Motorists will be diverted towards Barakhamba Road or Sikandra Road depending on their direction of travel.The Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the affected roads during the rehearsal period and follow the diversions and instructions of traffic personnel deployed on the routes.
