Patna: A day ahead of Independence Day, unidentified bike-borne miscreants opened fire near IGIMS Hospital on Bailey Road under Shastrinagar police station area on Friday, despite heightened security arrangements across the city. One person has been detained for questioning.According to the police, the assailants allegedly fired three rounds at a medical shop near the hospital. However, no one was injured in the incident. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the firing and launched an investigation.Eyewitnesses said four to five men arrived on motorcycles and opened fire before fleeing. However, shop owner Pramod Kumar Singh claimed that six to seven people came to the shop, assaulted his staff, issued threats and fired shots to create panic.“They told us, “You work at IGIMS, let me also work here, otherwise you will be killed,” Singh alleged.Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused. Sachivalay SDPO-1 Anu Kumari said a forensic team had collected samples from the spot and locals were being questioned to gather information about the attackers. She confirmed that one suspect had been taken into custody.Sub-Inspector Abhay Kumar said police received information about the firing and an investigation was underway.
