Vigilance team arrests teacher over Rs10,000 bribe

Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Thursday arrested govt school teacher-cum-coordinator Shashibhushan Lal while allegedly accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe at Keshav High School, Barun, in Aurangabad district.The bureau said Lal was caught red-handed in the school’s sports room while accepting the bribe, allegedly demanded for handing over the marksheet, SLC (school leaving certificate) and original certificate of the complainant’s wife.The complainant, Santosh Kumar of Makhra under Jamhor police station, had approached the bureau alleging that Lal had demanded the bribe. DG of Vigilance Bureau Jitendra Singh Gangwar said the complainant’s wife had passed Class 10 from the school under the Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination (BBOSE), Patna.A trap team was constituted under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police Rishita Sneh after verification found the allegation true.Lal will be produced before a special vigilance court in Bhagalpur after interrogation. Further investigation is underway. This is the 97th FIR registered by the bureau in 2026 and its 90th trap case this year.
