Patna: A fire broke out at the railway coaching complex near Patna’s Rajendra Nagar railway station in the early hours of Sunday, damaging electrical cables and other equipment before firefighters brought the blaze under control.The fire erupted around 4am and quickly intensified with flames visible from a distance, triggering panic among residents in the area.Sub-divisional fire officer Ajit Kumar said locals alerted the department around 4am. “Ten fire tenders, including both large and small vehicles, were immediately dispatched from the Kankarbagh sub-divisional fire office. Firefighters managed to contain the flames after nearly an hour of intensive operation, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby sections of the railway complex,” he said.According to preliminary findings, the fire destroyed electrical wiring, cables and other technical materials. No casualties or injuries were reported.District fire officer Ritesh Kumar Pandey said the blaze appears to have been caused by a short circuit, though the exact reason is yet to be confirmed. “The railway and fire departments are jointly investigating the incident. A detailed inquiry will establish the exact cause and assess the losses,” he said.According to East Central Railway chief public relations officer Saraswati Chandra, the fire incident was unfortunate and is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. “The blaze caused substantial damage. The railway authorities concerned will conduct an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the incident,” he said.
