Madhepura: Acting on viral videos showing youths brandishing firearms on social media, Madhepura police arrested three persons from two police station areas in the district. Two of them were allegedly seen displaying weapons in the videos, while the third was arrested for allegedly supporting them. All three were booked under the Arms Act and remanded to judicial custody on Thursday evening.Puraini SHO Ritesh Kumar said police first identified and arrested Jyotish Kumar, a resident of Puraini village. During interrogation, Jyotish allegedly disclosed that the firearm belonged to his uncle, Dhirendra Ram.“Based on his statement, we raided his uncle’s house and recovered a country-made firearm and 14 live cartridges. Both were arrested and sent to judicial custody,” the SHO said.Police said Jyotish is also named in other criminal cases.In a separate operation, Bihariganj SHO Law Kush Kumar arrested Md Soheb. A firearm was recovered from his motorcycle servicing shop.“We are verifying his criminal antecedents. So far, no previous criminal record has been found against him,” the SHO said.
