Patna: Ahead of a Bihar bandh called on July 25, CPI(ML) MLA from Paliganj, Sandeep Saurabh, was detained from his residence in Patna on Friday, soon after he released a video message alleging high-handedness by police. Earlier in the day, All India Students’ Association’s (Aisa) state secretary Dipankar and Patna University president Saba Afreen were arrested.Police said that more than 22 FIRs have been registered, while 60 people have been arrested for violence during the NEET protest on July 22. A total of 14 companies of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the district in view of Bihar bandh.Patna SSP Kartikey Sharma said 90 people have been identified in the district for disturbing peace through social media platforms. Action is being taken against them, he added.In the video shared on his social media platform, Saurabh said that police reached his residence and detained everyone present there, even those who had come only to meet him. He added he went to his room on the pretext of collecting some essential items and recorded the video message from there.The MLA alleged police are creating an atmosphere of ‘pressure and terror’ in Patna.He accused the state govt of not being ready to listen to anyone, even though the students’ demands were “very clear, straightforward and justified”.Saurabh said that Dhananjay, president of Aisa Bihar, was also detained. According to him, they were being taken to Kotwali police station in Patna.
