Pune: A recorded criminal was arrested by Alandi police on Monday for allegedly assaulting and attempting to extort money from an elderly vegetable vendor at Alandi on Sunday.A police officer said, “Suspect and his accomplice visited the senior citizen’s vegetable stall and demanded Rs5,000 from him to allow him to run his stall in the area. When he refused, the suspect hit him with his hand and leg. They further assaulted him with a stone and threatened to kill him.”The vegetable stall owner lodged a complaint. “We have arrested one of the duo. We are searching for his accomplice,” he added.
