Pune: Several MSMEs operating in Mulshi have raised concerns over poor road conditions and irregular electricity supply. The industrial belt covers Pirangut, Kasar Amboli, Ambatved, Urawade and Sutarwadi.In a letter to the authorities, Mulshi Industries Association (MIA) stated that the conditions deteriorated considerably over the past few years and sought solutions on priority to enable MSMEs to operate efficiently.Representatives of the association also met collector Jitendra Dudi in this regard. Among their demands was a separate electricity substation for the factories in the area, which are affected by frequent power cuts because of increased load. Electricity to the area is currently supplied through Bhare substation.Prolonged, repeated power disruptions are common occurrences daily in the industrial area, causing loss of productivity or an increase in costs for these MSMEs. Eight members of MIA said this causes delays in product consignments, which MSMEs operating on tight margins cannot afford.“Dudi has assured us that the MSEDCL will construct a new substation once land is identified and finalised,” MIA president Satish Karanjkar said.Industry representatives also raised the issue of traffic congestion, which causes increased transport costs and delays in movement of goods and materials for the 250-300 units in the area.“The situation is particularly serious around Ghotawade phata, where traffic congestion in peak hours has become a daily problem. We have also requested the administration to shift the Ghotawade bus stop by 100m, which will also aid in traffic management. The collector has also directed traffic police to provide additional traffic wardens,” Karanjkar said.
