Patna: In a unique and inspiring commemoration marking one year of the completion of Operation Sindoor, Governor Lt Gen (retd) Syed Ata Hasnain planted Sindoor saplings at the premises of the Danapur cantonment park in front of the centuries old St Luke Church on Tuesday.Danapur sub area general officer commanding Major General Jitendra Singh and other senior army officers of the Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) also participated in the plantation drive. The drive was organised as a symbolic tribute, highlighting the connection between national security and environmental responsibility. A total of 350 Sindoor saplings were planted in the park during the event, a senior Danapur cantonment officer said.Addressing the gathering, the Governor said the plantation of Sindoor saplings represented the fusion of national security and environmental stewardship. “Such initiatives reflected the armed forces’ commitment not only towards protecting the nation, but also towards preserving nature for future generations,” he said.“The harmonious blend of remembrance, patriotism and environmental consciousness will make the event a memorable milestone in Danapur cantonment, one of the oldest cantonments in Asia,” he added.The event witnessed the participation of not only army officials and personnel, but also officials from the district administration and Danapur army school children who paid tributes to the spirit of service and sacrifice associated with Operation Sindoor.Subsequently, a seminar on flood rescue operations was organised at the Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) premises at Danapur cantonment. The Governor who was the chief guest, stressed the need for stronger coordination and better synergy between the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to effectively deal with natural calamities.
