Pune: Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary allegedly used a fake social media account — “Mahi” — to lure her fiancé Ketan Agarwal, a realtor, to Lohagad Fort for the third time on June 18, Pune Rural police stated in the businessman murder case chargesheet.According to the chargesheet, Siya, Chetan and his classmate Ritesh Hange created the fake social media account. They used it to chat with Ketan, posing as a friend of Siya. The trio allegedly used the account to convince Ketan to accompany Siya to Lohagad on the eve of her birthday as a surprise. Siya’s birthday is on June 19.Ketan died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The police investigation established that it was not an accident but a murder. Siya, Chetan and Ritesh were arrested in the case. They are currently in judicial custody.Pune Rural police filed a 5,053-page chargesheet against the trio before Wadgaon Maval sessions court at 6pm on Saturday. It states that the accused had allegedly studied the 2025 Meghalaya case in which a newlywed woman, Sonam Raghuvanshi, was accused of killing her husband by pushing him into a gorge with the help of her lover. Siya and Chetan took cues from the case, widely discussed as “Operation Honeymoon”, police said.Pune superintendent of police (SP) Sandeep Singh Gill said the duo allegedly watched films based on murders before planning Ketan’s murder. The SP and his team relied on digital, cyber and forensic evidence in the case — a critical part of the chargesheet.According to the chargesheet, Siya and Chetan visited several locations, including Tiger Point in Lonavla on May 21, to identify a suitable place for Ketan’s murder so that it looked like an accidental death — a person slipping and falling fatally. Police said they learnt from the internet about the death of a woman (21) from Sangvi after falling from Lohagad Fort in March 2025.The chargesheet stated that Siya and Ketan subsequently visited Lohagad for trekking on May 29, during which she allegedly identified a spot from where he could be pushed into the gorge. The two returned to Lohagad on June 14, when Siya allegedly made an unsuccessful attempt to push Ketan into the gorge. After he managed to regain balance, Siya claimed that a snake had appeared at the spot, the chargesheet stated.Siya and Chetan allegedly planned another visit to Lohagad, this time using the fake “Mahi” account to persuade Ketan to accompany Siya for her birthday celebrations. Police claimed that the plan was finally executed on June 18, when Ketan was pushed into the gorge. The chargesheet stated that Ritesh played an advisory role in the conspiracy. He was allegedly involved in discussions about how Ketan should be killed, including whether Ketan’s hands and legs should be severed or if someone else should be engaged to kill the businessman. Police said Ritesh advised Chetan and Siya on avoiding police action after the crime, protecting themselves from CCTV surveillance and limiting the use of cellphones. The chargesheet contains statements of over 100 witnesses, including some purported eyewitnesses. It includes medical and postmortem reports, gait analysis conducted to establish the movements of the accused, reconstruction of the crime scene, CCTV footage, cellphone call and chat records, and medical and forensic examination reports.
