Varanasi: Events to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday started in the city on Wednesday. While BJP cadres performed yajnas, 1,076 girl sportspersons gathered to perform in Parmanandpur. A blood donation event was conducted by Gen Z wing of Antyodaya 76th Parishad in the evening. At the blood bank of Indian Medical Association building at Lahurabir, around 50 volunteers of Gan Z wing of Antyodaya Parishad donated blood to help needy. Former BJP Kashi region president Mahesh Chandra Srivastava said all youths who volunteered for blood donation were first time voter and first time donors. A cake cutting ceremony was also organised prior to blood donation by the participants.Early in the morning, special yajna and puja were held at the Kamna Purn Hanuman Temple and Shantikeshwar Mahadev Temple complex in Kamachha to pray for Modi’s good health, long life and India’s progress. The rituals were conducted with Vedic chants by devotees and BJP workers. BJP Kashi region president Ashok Chaurasia, along with party cadres including regional general secretary Anoop Jaiswal, vice president Amit Rai and Kuldeep Gond, performed the yajna rituals.Addressing the gathering, Chaurasia said Modi’s life reflects dedication to national service, public welfare and development and India gained global recognition under his leadership. He said BJP is celebrating his birthday with service and outreach programmes. Amit Rai said Modi inspires crores of Indians and gives energy to the vision of a developed India. The programme was conducted by Shrinath Sharma, with vote of thanks by Dhirendra Sharma.At Parmanandpur Mini Stadium, a unique celebration of PM Modi’s 76th birthday was witnessed as 1,076 national and international girl athletes, along with students of Vikas Inter College, Parmanandpur, performed. The stadium wore a festive look as girls posed with a large cutout of the Prime Minister and clicked selfie. Event organiser A K Singh said Modi’s tenure strengthened sports promotion, creating new opportunities for athletes and inspired girls to pursue excellence in sports on bigger platforms globally.
