Patna: In a joint operation, the Excise Department and the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) seized banned medicines worth Rs 32 lakh and arrested one person from an alleged illegal storage facility in Bank Colony, Shivpur, under Mehndiganj police station area of Patna late Wednesday night.During the raid, officials recovered 240 bottles packed in 20 cartons, three cartons of Spasmo-Proxyvon tablets and 24 cartons of Rexogesic injections. The accused, identified as Rajneesh Kumar, a resident of Mehndiganj, was arrested from the spot.EIB Inspector Mohd Saagir said the crackdown on illegal drug trafficking would continue. “The investigation is focused on tracing the supply chain of the seized medicines and identifying others linked to the network. Further action will be taken based on the findings,” he said.Officials suspect the seized medicines were habit-forming prescription drugs that were being misused and sold illegally.
