Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday reviewed schemes and projects being implemented by the rural works department (RWD) and asked officials to urgently assess bridges, culverts and rural roads damaged by floods and complete repairs to restore smooth movement for residents.The detailed review meeting was held at Sankalp Sabhagar in Lok Sevak Awas, Patna, and was attended by RWD minister Sunil Kumar. Senior department officials briefed the CM on ongoing works, proposed projects and future plans.Samrat asked the department to ensure timely completion of all works while maintaining quality standards. He said faster village development and improved public amenities remained a priority of the govt. Quality construction of rural roads, bridges and related infrastructure would improve convenience for villagers and strengthen the rural economy, he said.Samrat noted that the state govt was spending substantial funds on the construction and maintenance of rural roads and said continuous monitoring was necessary to ensure reliable connectivity in villages. He asked officials to identify roads, bridges and culverts affected by floods and take up restoration work without delay.All schemes taken up under the RWD must be completed on priority, Samrat said, adding that regular maintenance of rural roads was essential after construction. He also directed the department to protect rural roads from damage caused by heavy traffic and put in place measures for their upkeep.Earlier, RWD secretary Abhay Kumar Singh gave detailed information through a presentation on schemes and projects being implemented by the department and its future plans.
