NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday launched a sharp attack on the BJP after cases were registered against some protesters for allegedly using foul or objectionable language against BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.In a video message released on Friday evening, Dipke questioned whether the same legal action would be taken against BJP leaders and members of the party’s IT cell who, he alleged, had used abusive language against women and political opponents.“I just saw that a case has been filed against a girl for using abusive language. When will the cases be filed against BJP IT cell which has been using abusing language against girls for years online?” Dipke said.He alleged that some BJP IT cell members had publicly flaunted their association with the PM.“They used to flaunt their bio that they are followed by PM Modi. Will FIRs also be filed against the IT cell members who have abused women in the worst possible manner for all these years?” he asked.Dipke also referred to BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath while questioning whether the same standards were being applied to political leaders.“It’s not just limited to the BJP IT Cell. BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri. Everyone remembers the language he used against a fellow member of Parliament,” he said.“There’s also a video of UP CM Yogi Adityanath in which he was purportedly seen abusing a cameraperson,” Dipke added.Questioning the legal action against protesters, Dipke asked, “Is the country being governed under two separate laws for youths and BJP leaders?”“Using cuss word is not a crime. It can be a bad thing and that person can be persuaded but why file a case?” he said.“If things have to be done this way, most cases will be filed against the BJP IT cell and its leaders,” Dipke added.The remarks came after cases were registered against protesters over objectionable remarks made during the CJP-led agitation at Jantar Mantar.The CJP-led protests concluded on July 25 after the government accepted key demands of the agitators, including the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The government also agreed to provide suitable compensation to aspirants who died by suicide and withdraw FIRs against protesters.The CJP had led a 37-day-long protest at Jantar Mantar, alongside activist Sonam Wangchuk’s 26-day hunger strike against the NEET-UG paper leak.On June 29, the Supreme Court directed all states to release students below the age of 18 who were arrested or detained during nationwide protests over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, provided they had no criminal antecedents.The court also directed that no coercive action be taken against students for the time being, ordered the preservation of all electronic evidence relating to the protests and observed that the allegations placed before it, prima facie, warranted an independent and impartial probe.The Supreme Court further directed that persons arrested in connection with the student protests who did not have criminal antecedents be released, while permitting investigations in the cases to continue in accordance with law.The directions came as a bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana heard a batch of petitions alleging excessive use of force by police during protests that began at Jantar Mantar and other places in Delhi and later spread to Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, Assam, West Bengal and Keralam.(With agency inputs)
