Patna: Motihari’s Adarsh Kumar has secured a Rs 3.5 crore scholarship to pursue graduation at Georgetown University, Qatar, after being selected from more than 11,000 applicants representing 128 countries. The 18-year-old will join the course in Aug.The scholarship covers his education and other academic expenses over four years in Qatar, Washington (USA) and Italy. During the programme, Adarsh will study political science, economics and public policy.Adarsh had earlier brought laurels to Bihar by winning the Chegg.org Global Student Prize worth one lakh dollars in the UK in 2025. He used the prize money to launch a startup that guides poor and meritorious students in planning their careers.Raised by a single mother who worked as a domestic help, Adarsh grew up with limited electricity and internet access. When she spent her life savings on a laptop, he taught himself coding, entrepreneurship and startup skills through online resources.After completing his studies, Adarsh said he would return to India to serve the country and contribute to its progress towards becoming a developed nation.—
