Patna: Over 85 lakh people have been examined in the state for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Sept so far as part of an intensive health screening campaign aimed at early detection and timely treatment of chronic ailments.According to health department data, 85,20,044 people were screened between Sept 2 and 17 against the prescribed target. The campaign focuses on people above 30 years of age and aims to identify health risks at an early stage and link those requiring treatment.Madhubani, Banka, Katihar, Supaul and Jehanabad were among the five best-performing districts during the period.Health minister Nishant Kumar directed officials to accelerate screening in districts where progress was comparatively slow. “Our goal is to reach every household and ensure health screening of all eligible people. No eligible person should be left out of the campaign,” he said.He stressed that early detection would help patients receive timely treatment and prevent serious complications. Frontline health workers, including ANMs and ASHA workers, have been asked to intensify outreach.The screening drive is being conducted under the state’s ‘Janch evam Upchar–Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ campaign, which will continue till Nov 30. Screening is being carried out through door-to-door visits, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and govt health facilities for diabetes, hypertension, cancers, heart disease, respiratory ailments and other NCDs.
