Khan Sir gets interim relief in firing case

Patna: Patna civil court on Tuesday deferred the hearing on tutor Faisal Khan alias Khan Sir’s anticipatory bail plea, along with the bail applications of his two bodyguards, in connection with the June 2 firing incident outside his coaching institute. The matter will now be heard on July 3, and the interim protection granted to Khan Sir will continue until then.During the hearing, the public prosecutor alleged the bodyguards had used illegal firearms to intimidate people. Defence counsel Arvind Kumar Mawar argued both weapons were legally licensed and said the police had already seized the licence documents. The defence also submitted records showing one bodyguard had been granted a travel permit by the district magistrate in Uttar Pradesh to carry his licensed firearm in UP, Haryana, Delhi and Bihar. After hearing both sides, the court directed the investigating officer and the public prosecutor to produce all documents related to the firearms on July 3. The investigating officer has also been asked to verify the records and submit a report before the next hearing. The case relates to the June 2 firing outside Khan Sir’s coaching institute after a dispute triggered vandalism. Gunshots fired by his bodyguards caused panic among students and bystanders. Khan Sir later lodged an FIR against his competitor Roshan Anand and his associates. The incident also led to a police case against Khan Sir, his bodyguards and other coaching staff, prompting him to seek anticipatory bail.
