Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) empowered standing committee cleared 93 proposals at its 25th general meeting on Wednesday, approving projects related to drinking water, streetlights, vending zones, sanitation, commercial complexes and redevelopment of civic properties.The meeting was chaired by mayor Sita Sahu. The committee also approved extension of the contract of the existing streetlight agency, EESL, as the process to select a new agency is under way. It decided to seek guidance from the urban development and housing department on implementing the chief minister’s directive for solar streetlights.“The meeting was elaborate and fruitful. Soon, a board meeting will be called so that all proposals discussed and approved by the standing committee can be placed before the board for further approval and implementation, leading to progress in the city,” Sahu said.The committee gave administrative approval to a Rs 3.48 crore project for renovation and beautification of the historic water tank at Miller High School and construction of a cafeteria there.Around 60 projects for pipeline expansion and installation of high-yield borewells were also approved across several wards to improve drinking water supply.The committee cleared proposals to develop three commercial complexes with proposed World Bank assistance. These include projects estimated at Rs 133 crore on Arya Kumar Road, Rs 97 crore near Khaitan Market and Rs 300 crore near the AN College water tank.Constructions of multi-storey vending zones at 15 PMC-owned or controlled sites through municipal bond funds was also approved. The committee cleared 849 schemes under Ek Crore Parshad Nidhi Yojana 4.0.To improve sanitation, PMC approved the purchase of 12 robotic rover machines for cleaning drains and manholes. It also approved an MoU with NBCC for redevelopment of dilapidated and underutilized civic properties under a sustainable redevelopment model.The committee also approved the appointment of six people on compassionate grounds and several other proposals related to civic infrastructure and services.
