Three arrested in Muzaffarpur Club theft case

Patna: Police cracked the high-profile Muzaffarpur Club theft case on Monday, arresting three men and recovering Rs 1.60 lakh in cash, gold, silver and diamond jewellery worth lakhs. The Bihar DGP also sought details of the case given its seriousness.The theft took place on the night of June 22, 2026, during a reception at Muzaffarpur Club under the Town police station area. Thieves decamped with a bag containing cash and jewellery allegedly worth Rs 50 lakh, taking advantage of the crowd.The reception was hosted for the wedding of the son of Kanupriya, principal of LS College. She is the sister of Vinayak Gautam, former Tirhut MLC candidate. A large number of guests were present when the bag with cash and ornaments went missing, triggering panic.Muzaffarpur City SP Mohibullah Ansari said, “Police scanned CCTV footage from the venue and nearby areas. Based on technical investigation and secret inputs, suspects were identified and arrested.”
