NEW DELHI: A 64-year-old man and his friend have been arrested for allegedly killing the man’s son by assaulting him with a stone and strangling him in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj, police said. The accused told investigators that his son had schizophrenia, had become aggressive, and that he was frustrated by his behaviour and unable to arrange proper treatment for him.The accused have been identified as Talukdar Ansari, 64, and Mohammad Wasim alias Akram, 49. Both worked as tailors. The deceased was identified as Gul Hasan, whom police said was Ansari’s son.The case came to light on August 23, when police received information at around 7.13pm about the body of an unidentified man lying inside an abandoned container near the NTPC wall in Kalindi Kunj. The spot was around 500metres east of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.Police personnel who reached the location found the body inside the container. An injury was visible on the man’s head, while a concrete stone with apparent blood stains was found nearby.A murder case was subsequently registered and an investigation launched. Joint CP Vijay Kumar formed teams under the supervision of DCP Vineet Kumar. After several days of analysis, investigators traced Hasan’s movements through multiple cameras and found him travelling with two men towards the eventual crime scene. The two were subsequently traced to a stitching factory in Govindpuri, where Ansari and Wasim were apprehended by a team led by ACP Anil Sharma and comprising SHO Raman Kumar and other personnel.Police said Ansari claimed that Hasan had been suffering from mental health problems, which the police press release described as schizophrenia. He allegedly told investigators that his son would become aggressive and had attacked him and other family members.“He also told us that he was not able to get him proper treatment. So he along with his friend made a plan three days back,” police said.According to investigators, the two men took Hasan to the abandoned container on the pretext of taking him to a doctor.Once they reached the secluded location, Wasim allegedly struck him with a stone, following which Ansari also assaulted him.Hasan was then allegedly strangled with a rope made from cloth waste, police said. The accused allegedly left the body inside the container after the killing.Police said they subsequently recovered, at the instance of the accused, the concrete stone allegedly used in the assault, blood-stained clothes allegedly worn during the incident, and a cotton string or rope allegedly used for strangulation.
