3 minors drown in Purnia river

Patna: Three minor boys drowned while bathing in a tributary of the Kosi-Mechi river in Purnia district on Wednesday afternoon. The victims, all residents of Shankar Chowk Mahadalit Tola under Dhamdaha police station area, were swept into deep waters and strong currents near Bhavesa Dhar and could not be rescued in time.The deceased were identified as Mithani Kumar (15), son of Brahmdev Rishi; Ajay Rishi (14), and Happy Kumar (12), sons of Bablu Rishi.According to residents, the three children had gone for a bath near the Chandarahri brick kiln when they inadvertently entered the deep water. As they began struggling in the current, locals raised an alarm and rushed to their aid. Although all three were pulled out after prolonged efforts, they had already died.Dhamdaha SDO Anupam and SHO Ravishankar Kumar reached the spot along with a police team after being informed of the incident. Police took the bodies into custody, completed legal formalities and sent them to Purnia Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem, the SHO said.
