NEW DELHI: A skull, suspected to be that of a monkey, was found concealed in a passenger’s hand baggage during security screening at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, officials said.The incident took place on August 10 when CISF personnel detected the suspicious item during pre-embarkation security checks. The passenger was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Hyderabad.During questioning, the passenger told CISF personnel that the recovered object was a monkey skull. Given the suspected wildlife connection, the passenger was handed over to the local police for further action under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the CISF said.Police said the opinion of the Wildlife Department is essential to establish the identity of the object and determine whether carrying it amounts to a violation of the law. The same process is being followed in this case, they added.Further legal action will be taken if the Wildlife Department’s assessment establishes a violation, police said.
