Pune: State govt will conduct employment camps for freshers, experienced graduates and postgraduates at 31 educational institutes in Pune district on Oct 29.The initiative is part of the larger drive to hold 500 employment drives in the state.Nearly 250 companies are expected to participate in the drive. They will be looking for finance graduates, mechanical and electrical engineering degree holders and technician candidates to offer opportunities in banking and finance, the capital goods sector, manufacturing, business process outsourcing, healthcare and apprentice positions.The centres cover key areas in Pune city and other industrial hubs in the district. COEP Technological University, GH Raisoni International Skill Tech University, Trinity College of Engineering and Research, Dnyanvikas College in Dudhulgaon, Jaywantrao College of Engineering and Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skills University are some of the major centres. Other places include Jaihind College of Engineering in Junnar, Indrayani University in Indapur and skill development centres in Shirur and Ranjangaon MIDC.The vacancies are yet to be finalised as more companies are being added to the list, Suresh Warade, assistant commissioner of the Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department (SDEED), told TOI.“The main concern was the participation. We expect the candidates to come in large numbers. We were in the process of finalising the number of posts, participating companies and educational institutes,” he added.Interested candidates can apply at ‘www.rojgar.mahaswayam.gov.in’. The skill development department will also conduct soft skills sessions from Sept 21-24 at 16 govt industrial training institutes (ITIs) in the district. Registered candidates will receive training on how to speak during group discussions and interviews.The initiative will aid in bringing employment at the local level and bringing job seekers and companies to one place. Candidates are required to bring photocopies of their marksheets and resumes to the interviews.Sanjay Parande, coordinator at the skill development centre in Ranjangaon MIDC, said close to 350 candidates have already registered for the drive. The job seekers are those who have enrolled at the centre belonging to engineering and finance. He was expecting companies from manufacturing and technology sectors to participate in the recruitment drive.“We were also reaching out to companies in IT parks across the city to hire our students. Our staff has also reached out to other education institutes in the vicinity to register their students in the drive,” he added.
