Patna: Arvind Panagariya, chancellor of Nalanda University and chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, inaugurated the Nalanda Shodha Vihara on the university campus at Rajgir on Monday, bringing its six research centres under one roof.The new hub is aimed at strengthening coordination among scholars and providing a common space for academic inquiry. The university said the facility would help consolidate its research ecosystem.After the inauguration, a special lecture and interaction session was held at Vishwamitralaya Auditorium. Panagariya stressed the close relationship between teaching and research, saying both must advance together. He encouraged students to pursue their disciplines with dedication, develop expertise and strive for excellence through sustained effort.He also praised the university’s progress and appreciated its Sahabhagita initiative for its focus on engagement with communities and wider society.Vice-chancellor Sachin Chaturvedi outlined the university’s academic activities, future plans and major initiatives, including efforts to strengthen its institutional database and expand collaboration.Rudrendra Tandon, secretary (east) in the ministry of external affairs, assured the university of continued support for its academic, international and institutional engagements.
