1,400 Buxar govt teachers not paid salary for July

K KamleshBuxar: Around 1,400 teachers posted at govt primary and middle schools in Buxar district, paid under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), are yet to receive their July salaries, allegedly due to delays in processing salary bills at the district programme officer (DPO) establishment office and the block level.Ravi Rai, district president of Parivartankari Prarambhik Shikshak Sangh, said on Monday that teachers from other categories had received their July salaries by Aug 7, while Niyojit teachers were still awaiting payment. The delay has caused resentment among the affected teachers. The payment has been delayed despite the availability of funds and departmental instructions directing officials to ensure that teachers receive their salaries by the second day of every month.Yatindra Kumar Chaubey, president of the District Bihar Rajya Prathmik Shikshak Sangh, said the required salary allotment had already been made available to the authorities concerned. However, the payment process was held up due to delays at the DPO establishment office and at the block level, where salary bills are prepared and processed.Chaubey demanded that education minister Mithilesh Kumar Tiwari should take appropriate action against the dealing clerk and officials of the DPO establishment office for the delay.Rama Shankar Rajak, whose kin is admitted to a hospital for an emergency operation and who depends on his salary to meet the expenses, said the repeated delays were causing financial hardship.Buxar district education officer (DEO) Indra Kumar Karn said an error had occurred in the salary bill of the Niyojit teachers.“The error has been corrected, and the bill for yojana-related teachers has already sent to bank on Monday and remaining will be sent to the bank tomorrow for payment,” he said.
