Bihar woman confronts constable lover at check post, marries him at temple in Aurangabad

PATNA: A love affair that took a dramatic turn ended in marriage in Aurangabad district on Saturday after a woman travelled over 250km from Samastipur to meet her lover, a Bihar Police constable.The woman alleged that the constable had promised to marry her but was now refusing after securing a govt job.She reached the check post where he was posted and demanded marriage.An argument broke out between the two, drawing a crowd of locals who informed police.A Dial-112 team reached the spot and took them to Amba police station. After finding that both were adults and had been in a relationship for years, police contacted their families and facilitated their marriage at a temple.The woman was identified as Pooja Kumari, 24, daughter of Mohit Das from Chakbahuddin village under Dalsinghsarai police station in Samastipur.The man was Ankesh Kumar, 28, son of teacher Hariom Prasad from Asimpur village under the same police station area. Ankesh is posted as a constable at the excise department’s Erka Check Post in Amba.According to police, Pooja alleged that Ankesh had promised to marry her but was now refusing.She reached the check post demanding marriage.Amba SHO Rahul Raj said, “During questioning, Pooja said she and Ankesh had studied in the same school and their friendship turned into a relationship about four years ago. She claimed Ankesh had proposed and assured her of marriage.”Their conversations continued after Ankesh was selected as a constable three years ago.Pooja later learned that his marriage was being fixed elsewhere and left home without informing her family before travelling to Amba.
