Patna: Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Sunday said artificial intelligence (AI) should assist teachers rather than replace them, stressing the need to balance technology with ethics and human values in education.Addressing the inaugural session of a two-day state-level workshop-cum-chintan shivir at Adhiveshan Bhavan, Tiwari said the biggest challenge was ensuring students learned to ask the right questions instead of merely finding answers through technology.He said Bihar was making rapid progress in digital education, with textbook-based educational content and videos for Classes I to XII developed under the PM e-Vidya initiative. Educational material was also being prepared in local languages.Tiwari emphasised effective use of workbooks, unit tests and teacher diaries to improve learning outcomes. Referring to model schools, he said 551 Saraswati Vidya Niketan schools had been established, with another 142 expected to be added. Maintaining quality and academic standards would be crucial, he said.He also said an integrated software system and command-and-control centre had been strengthened to monitor teacher and student attendance, while grievance redressal for teachers, students and parents was being improved.The workshop, attended by 322 participants, including Bihar Education Service officers and DIET principals, will conclude on Monday.
