18-year-old swept away in Sarita Vihar drain found dead near Agra Canal

New Delhi: The body of an 18-year-old youth who was swept away by a strong current in a drain in southeast Delhi’s Sarita Vihar on Friday evening was recovered late Saturday night near the Agra Canal, where the drain opens up.The deceased, identified as Ankit, a resident of Bhim Colony in the Ali Village area, worked as a pantry worker in Noida and was returning home from work when the incident occurred.Police said Ankit was attempting to cross the drain by walking on top of a fast-flowing stream when he slipped and was swept away by the current.Police said a postmortem examination was conducted and the body was handed over to his family.
