New Delhi: Delhi Laxmi Yojana has received more than five lakh registrations within a week of its launch, with the North East district recording the highest number of beneficiaries who have entered their details, while North West has emerged as the second-biggest contributor among the districts.According to district-wise data available Saturday afternoon, 5,14,460 women had registered under the scheme. Of these, 4,36,316 had entered their district or assembly constituency details, while 78,144 had not yet provided the information. A total of 2,18,728 applications had been finally submitted.North East topped the district-wise registration figures with 73,676 registrations, followed by North West with 55,700, West with 44,358, South West with 44,149 and Outer North with 39,401. New Delhi recorded the lowest number of registrations at 5,573, followed by Central with 13,715 and Central North with 14,279.North East also recorded the highest number of final submissions at 38,579, while North West followed with 34,545. South West recorded 23,994 final submissions and Outer North 23,694. West had 18,967 submissions and South East 18,725.Among other districts, East recorded 30,621 registrations and 14,771 final submissions, while South had 26,316 registrations and 11,000 submissions. Central had 4,208 final submissions, while New Delhi recorded 1,801, the lowest among the districts.The figures indicate a sizeable gap between registration and completion of the application process. Of the 4.3 lakh women who had entered their district details, around half had reached the final-submission stage.Chief minister Rekha Gupta said the response to the scheme within seven days was “historic”, claiming that no govt scheme had witnessed such a large number of registrations in such a short period. She said the figures reflected women’s trust in the scheme and the govt’s commitment to their economic empowerment.Under the scheme, eligible women will receive Rs 2,500 per month. Beneficiaries have been offered two options for receiving the assistance. Under one option, Rs 1,000 will be made available through a central bank digital currency wallet for daily expenses, while Rs 1,500 will be deposited in an RD/FD. Under the second option, the entire Rs 2,500 will be deposited in an RD/FD to encourage long-term savings.Gupta said the scheme was being implemented through a technology-driven process covering applications, document verification, eligibility assessment, approval, PFMS integration, banking and payments. Each application would undergo four levels of scrutiny and approval, she said.An official said that the govt aims to release the first instalment to eligible beneficiaries on Raksha Bandhan.
